Life Update: “It’s Spring Break?”

So, as it’s already known right now, I’m living with my cousin in California while trying to get a combination of my life back on track with a fresh new start.

Life Update

So in order to compensate for not getting a job as quickly as I want to, I’ve decided to get an internet certification.

I’m thinking of doing some volunteering too.

My biggest problem is driving my cousins’ car in order to get places.

Ever since the wreck of my first car, I’ve been only slightly skittish about driving. I mean, I can drive and I’ve driven his vehicle a few times already while being here in California but I’ve always driven slow (not too slow) and carefully compared to my people in Louisiana.

My cousin, however has been pretty cool about letting me live here and has made it pretty clear that if I need the vehicle (he has two), I’m welcome to use it to get myself on track around here but I’m still like “I DON’T want to wreck this vehicle”. The way I see, I haven’t, so I’m doing a good job.

Because the job fountain has been looking pretty dry, I decided to do the one thing I’m sure all Californians have done at one point and whore myself to the film industry.

Well, not really “whore” but call a few up and ask questions mostly.

I always thought agencies cost money to use but according to these select few, it’s as easy as giving them a headshot, an email, a resume and letting them work their magic or whatever

Now, I’m no fool, I know that the acting business is shallow as fuck so there’s probably no chance of me actually getting into a movie or anything like that but the idea is to at least fail while trying so I can add that into the list of “shit I attempted but got cut short on”. Just a few more bricks until I’ve finished my fortress of failure, y’know?

On the positive note, I’ve been having more conversations with my old classmate, if the name “Baranco” mean anything to you, you know who I’m talking about.

I feel a bit special because we were friends in High School and she’s the reclusive type. Every so often she’d call me up and stuff, really brightens my day knowing that she’s still alive (a couple of people from my school year are dead).

On the good foot, I like to think I’m doing well in school, it’s an IT course and I know just enough about computers to make sense of some of it and some things did stick during the Lynda courses I was taking.

Only problem is that the class I’m in is about hardware, not software, so I’m kinda up shit creek.

Welp, challenge accepted, much.

If you’re still reading, I’m still writing.

Love and Peace, yo.

Life Update

So I’ve been in California for roughly over a month now and things are looking sideways.

Not up but not down,  y’know?

Here’s the skinny:

I got fired from my job in December and in an act of impulse, desperation and annoying advice to “take the plunge”. I decided to take my retired Navy cousin’s offer to move to Hanford, California in hopes to pursue a new life.

He’s a quiet individual who got to see his kids grow into adults so he has this three two bedroom house to himself, to some degree.

Since being here, I’ve gotten used to the system to some degree, applied for a few jobs at the Navy base despite not actually visiting Los Angeles yet, although I’m pretty sure that city’s just overhyped as fuck.

I had to apply for benefits to be able to survive here until I can find a job. Hanford is pretty much Baton Rouge except further West and more Latinos.

Which makes practicing Spanish pretty awesome.

Can’t believe my cousin been here for over twenty years and he hasn’t ever wanted to learn it.

Well, what he lacks in culture, he makes up for in experience. Dropping knowledge about planning for things in the future and every so often the occasional quip at my expense. We’re family, we’re Southern, we’re assholes like that.

With no job, I frequent Facebook and LinkedIn a lot and I find myself griping on Facebook while getting into arguments with Dumsensitives (Conservatives).

Thankfully, I’m not completely wasting my time. I applied for SJVC in a certification for IT – Security to add to my resume, just started classes yesterday and my professor seems okay. He’s a wrestling fan like myself so I can see us at least partially getting along after I finish this course.

In the meantime, I’ve found myself being really obsessed with getting fit lately what with going to the gym almost every morning since I got here. I weigh myself each time. All three of them give different measurements but it’s obvious that I’m between 192-196 so I just go with 195. I hope that changes, I miss being able to do flips with no hassle.

To anyone reading, I’ll keep you posted

So I haven’t been online in a while so I figure I’ll just do a recap of what’s been going on.

My Year in Review: 2016

Y’know, with a few hours of this year left, I honestly don’t feel much of an actual change and despite all the deaths, the flood, Alton Sterling’s murder, the recoiled cop killing, Trump’s corrupted victory, getting fired after five years, another year of crippling depression due to inadequacy and losing my gad-dang remote.

I’d like to point out the positives, or at least my positives.
